Rocky Bernard was cut last Friday when he and the Giants couldn't work out a deal to restructure his contract. Now they've apparently worked out a deal.

The 6-3, 308-pound defensive tackle re-signed with his old team today and -- if the new CBA is ever ratified -- could join his teammates at practice tonight. The 32-year-old definitely helps with the Giants' depth at that position and could be pencilled in for Barry Cofield's old starting job.

The Giants appear to be very pleased with the progress of second-year pro Linval Joseph, though, and they're excited by the potential of rookie Marvin Austin. They both seem to have more upside than Bernard, who has had three sacks in two years with the Giants. His experience, though, makes him a valuable piece, especially after the Giants lost Cofield to the Redskins.

DT Martin Parker, an undrafted rookie out of Richmond, was waived/injured.
